Mahindra is ready to launch the Thar 2WD option with some changes on 26 January 2023 and here we discuss the changes compared to Mahindra Thar 4WD, In the 2WD version, we get two engine options which are the default petrol engine and a 1.5 lit diesel engine.
Mahindra Thar is the most loved SUV in India that provides amazing muscular looks with great offroading capabilities but it’s only available in the 4WD option so now Mahindra launching its 2WD version which makes it more affordable.
It comes with the 1.5 lit diesel engine which same engine that is available in the Mahindra XUV 300, it produces 121bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The 2.0-lit turbo petrol engine produces 162 bhp and 300Nm of torque, It also comes in two transmission options which are 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.

Mahindra take this step because Maruti is ready to launch its popular jeep SUV that is Jimny so Mahindra wants to kill its competition before it arrived in India, As we know Jimny comes in five-door but Thar is still available in three doors only so we have to wait for slightly more for five-door Thar.
After switching to the smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine Thar 2WD still have the dedicated 20-lit DEF talk beside the 57-lit diesel tank. If we talk about the weight of the new 2WD version then it’s almost 50-60KG less compared to Thar 4×4 variant.
The new Thar 2WD version is going to be 1.5 lacks less compared to the 4WD version so we can expect an 11.99 lacks ex-showroom price for the base variant.
